Green Roots

Through the Green Roots Initiative, ECS donates 10 trees to one of America’s national forests for each customer that enrolls in an ECS demand response program. This effort is in conjunction with the Arbor Day Foundation’s Trees in Celebration program. ECS donates tens of thousands of trees annually. “The commitment by ECS to plant trees will have a lasting impact on our environment,” said Matt Harris, president of the Arbor Day Foundation. “The trees planted by ECS will help restore wildlife habitat, clean the air we breathe and protect soil and waterways.

Environment & Community

At ECS, we care about the world we live in and want to ensure that we have a healthy place to grow and prosper for years to come.  That’s why we’re taking steps, overseen by our environmental compliance coordinator, to ease our wear on the environment and help our community:

  • ECS is a carbon neutral company through purchases of carbon offsets.

  • As part of our Green Roots Initiative, ECS donates 10 trees to the Arbor Day Foundation's planting program for every customer that joins our demand response programs.

  • ECS recognizes our customers as environmental leaders with awards and press releases.

  • ECS chooses environmentally friendly suppliers of goods and services.

  • ECS follows a recycling program for paper, cardboard, bottles and cans.

  • ECS’ marketing materials are printed with mild soy-base inks on papers made from recycled fibers.

  • ECS’ PowerPlant! tree-planting effort takes part in the annual Re-Tree Western New York spring dig event.
