Working with ECS through Power Connect

- Michael Riester, President, National Power Source LLC
National Power Source provides ECS PowerPay! programs to clients as a value-added service:
● Clients receive payments for their agreement to reduce electricity use if
called on during a Reduction Event
● Free advanced metering, provided by ECS, helps clients lower their
electric costs through better understanding of their usage by viewing energy
data and graphs
Step 1 – Program Introduction
Their first step is to introduce clients to the concept of demand response and advanced metering by providing them with ECS PowerPay! literature, such as a brochure during a meeting, or electronic documents as a follow up to a phone call.
If the client would like more detailed information, a meeting or conference call is arranged with National Power Source, the client and ECS.
Step 2 – Enrollment
Enrolling a client in an ECS PowerPay! program through Power Connect is simple and requires no cash outlay. National Power Source has copies of PowerPay! enrollment forms on file and can present it to the client when he is ready to sign.
An interval meter is installed at the client’s facility, at no cost. This meter is used to measure the amount of electricity reduced during Events. The client may also use the meter for his own purposes such as viewing electric data to look for opportunities to increase energy efficiency and save money on electric bills.
Step 3 – Event Preparation
ECS provides National Power Source and their client with energy reduction tips to follow during events.
When a client needs help determining energy reduction capabilities, ECS provides a complementary demand response audit, which can be used by the client to formulate a reduction action plan.
Step 4 – Event Activation
ECS provides National Power Source and the client with advance Event notification to the contacts specified by the client, via email, phone, fax and/or text messaging. If National Power Source or the client has questions leading up to an event, ECS is only a phone call or email away.
The client reduces electric use 10 minutes before the Event until 5 minutes after the Event period.
Step 5 – Post Event Analysis, Communication & Compensation
After the Event, ECS analyzes performance and provides feedback reports to National Power Source to distribute to the client. National Power Source consults the client on his performance and preparation for future events.
ECS issues press releases for clients interested in publicizing their successful performance as a community and environmental service.
Client receives a compensation check for his successful performance and National Power Source receives compensation through Power Connect.
“Power Connect provides our clients with opportunities to run their operations in a more energy efficient and cost effective manner – and get paid for it! Oftentimes, it takes very little effort on the client’s part, as they’ve all ready been taking steps to use less energy.”
- Michael Riester, President, National Power Source LLC
